Why should I take online lifeguard training?

The internet has revolutionized the way people get trained. No longer do you need to spend countless hours studying and memorizing information. Instead, you can just spend several hours per day and gain the necessary knowledge.

The best way to learn how to train as a lifeguard is by taking a course designed for that purpose. However, if you do not want to go through the hassle of finding a class in your area to fit your schedule, you can always learn with a blended online lifeguard class.

ALA Online Lifeguard Training Programs

The American Lifeguard Association has a variety of the best online lifeguard training course available for you to choose from. This blended program gives employers an opportunity to assess your skills and encourage you to practice your skills through training videos. Our online course starts with assessing your skills first and then continuing with the level of training you need to become certified.

The American Lifeguard Association is one of the top aquatic health and safety training programs in the United States. It was founded in 1990, and with the help of the United States Senate, the American Lifeguard Association has become a nationally recognized organization.

The American Lifeguard Association is dedicated to delivering quality health and safety training worldwide. They adhere to a code of ethics and are committed to providing safe swimming experiences for the people at the beaches or other places where they come to enjoy the weather and water. ALA delivers health and safety training throughout the world, and its lifeguard certification is acceptable worldwide

We advise you not to waste more time and join us with thousands of other active lifeguard members for online training. The program is not long and can be accessed easily with a device that has an internet connection. Below are given the steps and information to complete the online lifeguard training.

ALA Lifeguard Certification

ALA online lifeguard training programs are focused on improving your life-saving skill and saving people from drowning. The certification program is accomplished through an instructor-led video training program with online materials and a final online exam, allowing you to become certified as an individual or in a small group right away. The training can be accomplished on your own and at your own pace. Upon completing your online portion of the program, you will be issued a two-year national certification in lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid. All training materials, including videos, will remain available to you for the duration of your two years of certification, allowing you to refresh your skills at any time. With this blended program, the employers assess your skills and encourage you to continue practicing the skills through in-service training

Lifeguard Training Videos

You will need to be familiar with and able to perform the skills.

Lifeguard with CPR/AED and First Aid reference materials

You are to review our lifeguard manual and additional online study materials.

Once you have reviewed the videos, looked at all the materials, and become familiar with the skills to the point you know you can perform them, and you will need to go online and take the exam.

The Exam

When you have done watching videos and reviewed the other online material and feel like you have practiced the skills, it is time to take the exam. The exam will be online and written, requiring you to score at least 80%.

You can review the online study material at any time, but when you are taking the exam, you cannot take breaks to review the study material. If you feel you need to review the online materials again during the exam, you must leave the exam and retake it when you feel ready for it.

If you do not get a passing score, you can take the exam again until you get a passing grade, and this will not cost you extra.

Upon Completion of the Final Exam

Once the online Exam is completed, you will receive an email that will confirm that you have successfully completed the online lifeguard training program and your records will be available online in a national verification system on the same day you complete the final Exam.

If you are successful, then you will receive a printed score of your Exam with all the corrections made for any of your wrong answers for you to review again. It is because we want you to get everything right when you go out for a job after getting a lifeguard certification from ALA.

The final thing after the successful completion of the Exam is that you will receive a lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification. This certification from ALA can be checked and verified online. This lifeguard certification will be valid for two years from the date it is issued.

ALA has designed this training program to teach individuals the knowledge and skills that can make them helpful in preventing aquatic emergencies.

After this, you will be awarded the certification. This is named as “Professional Lifeguard certification,” which is acceptable for you to apply for a job as a Lifeguard along with First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

Online Verification

Your exam scores are available online for verification. This allows validated certification to be viewed by employers and health department officials when you apply for a job. It is better to print out a copy of your ALA when you receive the official email.

The certification is not limited to printed-out paper but there will be a waterproof, wallet-size certification card mailed to you right after you receive the verification email. It will be mailed to you the next business day.

Employee Orientation

An orientation session about facility operations and responsibilities helps lifeguards understand the facility, its responsibilities, and management’s expectations. The orientation is critical for learning what is unique about your workplace. Ask your employer questions about your facility and become completely familiar with your facility’s operations.

Continue with in-service training with your employer.

Earning a lifeguarding certification means you have completed a training course on a given date. It does not mean that you have learned everything there is to know about lifeguarding. Once hired as a lifeguard, you should expect that you will be required to continue your training. The employer ensures that each Lifeguard candidate has all the skills and knowledge necessary for the position they are being considered for. The employer also needs to make sure the candidate meets the physical and other elements before starting employment. The employer to evaluate your current skill level. Your employer may have you participate in rescue scenarios to ensure that you understand your team’s responsibilities and are familiar with your facility’s layout and equipment.

What do employers want in a lifeguard?

Each Lifeguard candidate should have all the skills and knowledge necessary for the job they’re being considered for. A job applicant needs to meet the employer’s physical and all other requirements before starting work.

The employer will first evaluate your current skill level, then they’ll give you a job offer that allows you to participate in rescue scenarios to make sure you understand your team’s responsibilities and are familiar with their facility.
